What is Music Therapy?

Music therapy is a collaborative, evidence-based approach that uses music to support emotional, cognitive, and creative growth. You don’t need to be musically trained — all you need is a willingness to explore your thoughts and feelings through sound. Sessions provide a safe, structured space for creative adults to express emotions, gain insight, and develop strategies to manage anxiety, depression, self-criticism, or creative blocks.

How Music Therapy Can Help You:

  • Express and process difficult emotions safely

  • Strengthen self-awareness and self-compassion

  • Reconnect with creativity and personal expression

  • Reduce stress and regulate mood

  • Improve focus, problem-solving, and mental clarity

Music Therapy for Creative Adults in NYC

Techniques I Use:

  • Improvisation: Spontaneous music-making allows emotional expression even without prior musical experience.

  • Songwriting: Writing lyrics and melodies supports self-reflection and personal storytelling.

  • Singing: Vocal expression helps explore emotions and build confidence.

  • Guided Listening: Carefully chosen music can evoke insight and emotional connection.

  • Recording: Creating recordings offers a tangible product of your creativity and fosters self-esteem.

Sessions are tailored to your goals and preferences. Music therapy encourages connection — with yourself, your emotions, and the therapeutic relationship — making it a powerful tool for emotional growth and creative exploration.
